The Bay Islands of Roatan and Utila are responsible for the major flux of travelers to Honduras. Roatan is a great diving destination for the budget conscious traveler.
Among the top Honduras hotels in Roatan is the Hotel La Quinta Roatan, which offers cheap accommodation in West End. They have luxurious rooms with TV's, air conditioning, hot water and refrigerators. They also offer weekly and monthly rentals on houses next to the hotel.
The best among the Honduras hotels is the Mayoka lodge, which provides 6 star luxuries. It covers a huge area and offers the facilities of a luxury resort like the infinity pool, tennis court and their own private beach.
The Palmetto Bay Plantation is one of the few Honduras hotels, which is an eco-sensitive resort and which offers sports like diving, snorkelling, fishing, and Kayaking. They also provide seaside pool and massage services. To top it all, they own one of the most famous seaside restaurants among the other Honduras hotels.

You can rent scooters from the locals and take off down the main road, which happens to be the only road so there's no chance of getting lost.
This road circles the entire island, and there are a few dirt roads that lead off to small towns along the way. Roatan is still unspoiled, but it is unlikely to remain that way for long as tourism continues to increase. For now, though, you can still tour the small fishing villages and find some excellent local cuisine for a quick lunch. One restaurant called Gio's in French Harbor serves delicious grilled fish with garlic sauce and cilantro sauce.

La Ceiba is a port town in the northern part of the country. There are several beach front resorts with casinos and villas as well where you will find everything to be well maintained, with lots of activities for everyone in the family.
From kayaks to boogie boards to trampolines and mini golf, there are plenty of ways to play at these all inclusive resorts. Many also organize daily activities for guests including volleyball, soccer, dance classes, Spanish lessons, board games, walks, and much more. Food and drink are also plentiful, with buffet restaurants as well as a la carte restaurants to choose from. There is generally excellent service at Honduran beach resorts, but you should be warned that as in other locations some guests can get rather rowdy when they've had too much to drink.
