Spanish for Travellers

Travelling to Honduras? In my previous incarnation as a Spanish teacher, I did quite a bit of travelling in Latin America, but I never made it to Honduras. Venezuela, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Cuba were on my itinerary. In any case, everywhere I went, I found that the more I could communicate with people, the better time I had.
Latin American people have a tradition of being open and friendly. They love Americans, in particular, and if you can speak even a few words, you'll unlock the door to meeting some very interesting people. I've found that these personal interactions take me a step away from being a camera-snapping capitalist and make my travelling a more human experience.
I strongly suggest learning a few phrases before your trip. In my day, I'd take some cassettes out from the library. These days, you can avail yourself to many internet resources to learn Spanish.
