Olancho-Get A Feel of Rural Honduras
Olancho is an agricultural- based region of Honduras. Olancho has sparsely populated highlands which will give you the real rural feel of Honduras. Olancho is specifically famous for its dairy products and meats. There are a large number of national parks and archeological sites which the tourists can visit. The commercial capital of Olancho is Juticalpa which is a colonial city dating back to the late 1700s. Catacamas is another colonial town, 40km from Juticalpa, which will give you a real taste of the rural Honduras.
Those with a love of adventure can travel to the caves, mountains and numerous forests available out there. Some of the attractions include The Caves of Talgua, El Boquerón Natural Monument, Sierra de Agalta National Park, and many other parks.
